If you're responsible for the design, installation, commissioning or maintenance of emergency lighting systems, this course provides the practical knowledge and recognised qualification needed to demonstrate your competence.

This intensive two-day classroom course combines emergency lighting design, installation, testing and maintenance into one structured learning programme.

Aligned with BS 5266-1:2025, it prepares learners for the FireQual Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Emergency Lighting Systems, giving you the confidence to specify, verify and maintain compliant emergency lighting systems throughout their lifecycle.

Our courses are delivered by experienced industry professionals who combine technical expertise with practical, real-world experience. Whether you're new to the industry or looking to expand your knowledge, our training is designed to be engaging, informative and directly applicable to your day-to-day role.

We offer a range of classroom and live online courses, with many leading to nationally recognised RQF qualifications. Our focus is on supporting ongoing competence and professional development, helping technicians and businesses meet industry standards and best practice.

  • Do I need any previous qualifications?

Entry requirements vary depending on the qualification.

Some RQF courses are open to all learners, while others have specific prerequisite qualifications that must be achieved before you can sit the assessment.

Please check the course description for any entry requirements before booking. If you're unsure, we're happy to advise you.

  • What qualification will I receive if I pass?

Learners who successfully complete the assessment will receive the RQF qualification detailed on the course page.

RQF qualifications are nationally recognised and provide formal recognition of your knowledge and competence in the subject area.

  • What if I don't pass the RQF assessment?

If you are unsuccessful, don't worry.

Please contact us to discuss the available resit options and any associated costs. We'll be happy to guide you through the next steps.

  • Is this qualification recognised?

    Yes.

RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework) qualifications are nationally recognised and awarded through an approved awarding organisation.

They provide formal recognition of your knowledge and competence and are valued throughout the fire and security industry.

  • What equipment do I need to attend an online course?

To take part in one of our live online courses, you'll need:

    • A computer or laptop (a larger screen is recommended for the best learning experience)
    • A reliable internet connection
    • Speakers or headphones
    • A microphone so you can participate in discussions

We recommend joining a few minutes before the course starts to ensure your equipment is working correctly and you're ready to begin on time.

  • Does this course make me compliant?

Training is an important part of demonstrating competence, but attending a course alone does not make an individual or organisation compliant.

Compliance depends on a range of factors, including appropriate qualifications, experience, competence, company procedures and ongoing professional development.

Our courses are designed to help learners understand current requirements and apply industry best practice with confidence.

  • How often should I refresh my knowledge?

There is no single answer, as it depends on your role and the subjects you work with.

Many technicians choose to refresh their knowledge whenever standards are updated, legislation changes or new technologies emerge. Regular CPD also helps maintain confidence and supports continued professional competence.

  • Why does Ember Compliance focus on competence?

At Ember Compliance, we believe training should do more than simply help learners attend a course or pass an assessment.

Our aim is to support long-term professional competence by providing practical, relevant training that helps technicians apply their knowledge with confidence and continue developing throughout their careers.
