Module 1: Introduction to BS 5839-1
Learners are introduced to the requirements of BS 5839-1. This module includes basic principles of fire safety and an introduction to FD&FA systems requirements within the boundaries of the various legal frameworks within the UK.
Module 2: Design
In this module, emphasis is placed on the process of fire alarm design, enquiry, survey, design, certification and the appropriate recording and documentation requirements.
Module 3: Installation
This module explores compliance with the standard and how the installer may deal with issues not known to the designer during the installation.
Module 4: Commissioning
This module explores the process of commissioning, the requirements of testing and inspecting a newly installed system and how the commissioner may deal with issues not known to the designer and/or nonconformities with the standard.
Module 5: Maintenance
This module explores the process of maintenance, the requirements of inspection & servicing existing systems and how the maintainer may deal with non-conformities with the standard.
Exam - L3 Award in the Requirements of FD&FA Systems for Non-Domestic Buildings BS 5839-1: 2025
The RQF examination allows learners to demonstrate knowledge of BS 5839-1: 2025 as part of competence in the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of FD&FA systems. Learners will demonstrate knowledge gained within our previous modules and industry experience.
